Frequently Asked Questions
Who should get a prevention check?
A check-up is for anyone who feels healthy and wants to detect symptomless diseases early. We follow the mediX guideline: which examinations make sense and when depends on age, sex, family history and personal risk factors – for example regular blood pressure checks from age 18, cholesterol and diabetes screening from 40 (women from 50) and colorectal cancer screening from 50. We put together your personal check-up program individually based on these recommendations. mediX check-up guideline
Does my health insurance cover the costs?
Basic insurance covers prevention only to a limited extent. With supplementary insurance, 50-90% of costs are often covered. Ask your insurance provider.
How should I prepare?
Come fasting (8-12 hours without eating). Water and medication are allowed. Bring your insurance card.
When will I receive the results?
Lab results are usually available after 3-5 business days. We'll then discuss them with you in a 20-minute online meeting.
What does the blood analysis include?
Depending on the package, we analyze more than 50 laboratory values – including a complete blood count, blood sugar (HbA1c), cholesterol and blood lipids, liver, kidney and thyroid values as well as vitamins and iron status. Blood is drawn directly at our practice in Zurich.
Which cancer screening examinations do you offer?
Depending on age, sex and risk profile, the check-up includes skin checks and colorectal cancer screening, among others. We advise you personally on which screening examinations make sense for you.
Can I get tested for sexually transmitted infections (STIs)?
Yes, we offer discreet STI testing – as part of a check-up or as a separate appointment.
How long does a health check-up take?
Plan around one hour for the appointment at the practice. We then discuss your results with you in an online consultation.
